BOTOX CAN HELP TO RELIEVE CHRONIC PAIN IN THE NECK.

An affected person tells us her experience with botulinum toxin.
On 3rd February I had Botox trigger point injections on trapezius muscle and left angular muscle, in Alicante. After three weeks doctors measured the muscle contraction with a sort of dynamometer and it had reduced by 20%.
Previously, I signed my consent declaration, because it is still in the early experimental stage and on 4th May, three months after the first dose, they injected me with the second dose on the right side. Now I feel better with respecto to the symptoms. And it is possible that in May with this technique medication will be reduced by The Pain Unit.
Clearly, Botox effects are only temporary, but they assure me it will last a minimum of six months. I say to you that at least the symptoms have improved. If someone of yours is advised by your doctor to have botox trigger point injections. I encourage you to try it, so we are increasing the statistics and letīs see if at last it is passed by Pharmaceutical General Council.
But take care, this treatment must always be performed in a hospital and if it is possible in an operating theatre or with an anaesthetic near or with a vein perfusion, so we must prevent the risk of adverse reactions or side effects.

A DIFFERENT OPINION ABOUT BOTULINUM TOXIN BY ANOTHER AFFECTED PERSON.
On 26th I am having botox injections on my arms and hands but we must clarify basic issues which have been explained to me by my neurologist, who is extremely informative. In additionI have got some information from Internet.
- Botulinum Toxin has been injected since 1985; so it is not new at all.
- It is a treatment to alleviate the symptoms not to cure the disease.
- Its application is really simple; subcutaneous infiltrations .
- This treatment lasts for a limited time, so it si necessary to reduce the application intervals till it doesnīt work.
- Neurologists question its effectiveness (later muscles can be in worse conditions)
- It hasnīt got any contraindications.
- It works only for very specific areas and certain muscles.
With my coments I only want to say that I respect my colleagueīs opinion but we canīt and we mustnīt generalize. The most important thing is that we must be truthfully informed and in an understandable way, not to cherish false hopes nor expect miracles. They know when and why to apply it and remember that each of us is unique.
HELLO EVERYBODY, with this writing I am just writing to say that one of the main discovereis causes of our disease and later the identification of the symptoms is usually due to an accident (the trauma after a traffic accident and other similar causes)
In this situation yo must bear in mind several decisions you have to make.
1st To be informed by a neurologist,a neurosurgeron and qualified staff about this disease, its development and this malformation effects.
2nd You must inform those who are incumbent on the subsequent treatment ( if the accident happens at work you must contact the MUTUA (department for employment and learning) and otherwise to the social security)
3rd As for me, I can say that MUTUAS once they do the checkup they take patients to the social security claiming that it is a congenital malformation.
4th According to a Social Security Inspectorīs comment, this is not new, it is just a way to dissuade the patients. Not all doctors realize the MUTUAīS intention and they give you common treatment (except someone who is always lucky and whose name I donīt want to remember) and then they start treating your illness as a common disease; not as an industrial accident, as it should be.
5th The law (I donīt remember the article) clearly mentions that every industrial accident causes any illness (without previous symptoms and not previously prescribed) to appear or get worse, make it to be classified as a working disease.
6th Bear in mind tha the legal preceedings compel them to employ a lawyer and aqualified doctor, Iīve sadly learnt all this after running into a lot of problems. Finally after two years I found a reliable lawyer who without asking me for any money to look for a high qualified lawyer and the most qualified doctor to carry out this case.
7th By my own experience (I donīt mean it must always be like this) I realize that nor the Social Security or the MUTUA, they donīt matter what you are feeling or in which condition you are. Even though itīs hard to say this, their only worry is how much the proceeding is going to cost them ( I used to think that people can be cheated on buying a car, a house but I never thought they could play with our health)
8th I thought of enclosing the lawyerīs and the qualified doctorīs telephone number but before doing it I must ask their permission and of course to Marta Gamboa and Tomas. If they accept this will be my decision and you know I will do it free. I wouldnīt want that anybody to experience the situation which I have been suffering about uncertainty, distrust, worries,
